The Official Front Sight Dry Practice App is a premium handgun training tool featuring a virtual Front Sight instructor with complete verbal range commands. The Dry Practice App is not a cheap "shot timer" that just provides a timed buzzer. In addition to containing the times used for Front Sights basic handgun skills test, the Dry Practice App actually listens to the user between drills, so the app knows when to continue to the next drill. This provides for a customized and personal training experience.

The Official Front Sight Dry Practice App waits for your voice command to continue between each drill. Because users can proceed at their own pace, they each receive a customized experience. For example, if you are slow with your Type 3 Malfunction clearance, the app wont leave you behind. It will wait for you to verbally tell it to continue.
As an additional benefit of the "continue on verbal command" feature, you get to keep your hands free to manipulate your weapon, just like you would at Front Sight.

If you want to save on ammo costs, then this app is an absolute must. You can use this app every week or every other day and it builds tons of muscle memory. Go to Front Sight take a handgun class and then get this app and youll be dialed in and "ready" if things go really bad!
I dont know about you, but for me dry practice can use a little structure. Granted, you can use the Front Sight Dry Practice printed manual and/or try to remember all the points you were taught at Front Sight. This app is not a shot timer...nor is it being offered as such. It is, however, a nice portable solution to on-demand range drills. Yes, the price is a bit steep (as far as apps go) and will dissuade many from obtaining the app. But ask yourself this question; how much money do you commit to a trip to Front Sight? Even if you have a lifetime membership, the other costs (travel, food, lodging, firearms and, of course, ammunition) are a significant financial commitment. If you view the cost of this app in the context of what you spend to hone your handgun skills, its only a small part of the overall cost. Plus, the cost is offset by the fact that a Two-Day Defensive Handgun course certificate is included with the purchase of this app. If you dont have a Front Sight membership and you have never been to Front Sight, you can use the certificate for your first trip. If you already have the tuition covered, this certificate makes a nice gift. Branded by Front Sight with links to help video clips from Front Sight staff, this app offers practice for the individual drills plus a complete walk-through of the skills test you will face at the end of the Four-Day Defensive Hand Gun course and the Two-Day Handgun Skill Builder course. This app would be great for any handgun enthusiast. Whether you have been to Front Sight or not, this app will help structure your dry practice with interactive dry practice, reloads and malfunction drills. I rate this app with five starts. As a Front Sight graduate, I think it will help me improve my performance for the next skills test when I take friends to Front Sight in the future.
This version runs the drills well on my iPad mini and now successfully runs anything that needs Internet access (kudos for getting that fixed). My iPod Touch 4g wont get past the loading screen. So, 5 stars for iPad but zero stars for iPod. I hear an update to address the iPod issue is expected to release soon.
This is like having my amazing highly skilled- range masters their with me after I leave Front Sight and go home to practice my Dry practice. Highly Recommend this App.
When I saw the price on this app I thought I would never buy it, but after thinking about the cost of ammo and the hassle of going to the range, I rationalized it. My wife and I will use this app and be ready for our next trip to Front Sight. Wonder if there will be a live fire version or other versions?!?! I use this app connected to a Bluetooth speaker.
